This is a continuation of my previous post click here to read it.
First off, an update on the Seagulls, I found a second Nest. They have three babies.
Interestingly enough, I just read then once a couple establishes a nest in one roof, all the others will follow suit, being social birds. This ends turning the area in this big Seagull Colony.
As it turns out there is a reason why this place seems a very popular place for new families. It is because of one thing and one thing only:
You see, in this building, there lives a cat lady. Every day she leaves out a feeding dish for one of the cats that hangs out below. I kid you not, she lowers it with a string attached. And the seagulls have noticed this.
So picture this scenario I have observed:
You have a bunch of cats watching this scene.
And one very patient and hungry Gull.
As soon as the cat leaves she swoops in and gets the leftovers.
This is the seagull version of living right next to a grocery store. I can relate, I live near one myself. I don´t need to go too far whenever I need food.
And don´t worry about the cats going after the chicks. For one, the roof is way too high to climb, and second, the parents are always around. Plus they are really big birds, and have you ever see a seagull fighting? They can be terrible, not something a feline would want to mess with.
As for the other nest? They are doing fine, the babies are getting active and bigger with each day. They even already started flapping their wings, as a prelude to their future ability to flight. Although in this case it just helps them climb the roof better.
This how last week went. Thank you for reading and feel free to follow me as I´ll be posting more updates soon.
