Got a few Australian Magpie photos for you. The first two are adults and the last few are juveniles. Something that I would like to show people interested is the difference that light makes in photos.
As you can see with the first photo it was taken in the shade on a partial cloudy day. As you can see the detail isn't quite there but the colours are nice. There is a bit of distance between the crow and the background which gives it a smooth blurry effect. This can be improved by having a faster aperture the f number in your camera. Example, f1.2 would be fast f11 would be slow. The f1.2 would create a very blurry, smooth background where f11 might create a bit more harsher semi in focus background. With f11 or higher you can still get this effect but as above there needs to be a larger distance between what you want in focus and the background.
Here is another one a bit better but because of the distance the detail is faint. But you can still see much more detail where the sunlight hits the magpie. The background to me is a bit bright too which is distracting and because the background is very close to the crow it is not as smooth or blurred out. Most people prefer the smooth background unless it is landscape photography because it puts more focus on your subject and is pleasing to the eye where landscape you do want everything you are photographing to be in focus and sharp.
Here you can see the photo is close but the bird has proper light maybe even too much. The light is very sharp but what would have been great is if the light would have hit the eye. But the detail is much better than the above photos detail wise. However detail isn't everything but the colours in the background is too bright and too harsh.
Last photo you can see it is closer photo and the detail is much better on the eye because of the light. The light is more on the subject than on the background. In my opinion this is the best photo and what I would like to get every time. Unfortunately because of the unpredictability of the subjects you sometimes have to take what and when you can get.
If you really like it and want a wall print or you want the photo on a cup or shirt you can get it at https://hendrikspix.redbubble.com
Also, my photos cannot be used without my permission thank you.
