Here are a few photos I took of splendid fairy wrens (splendens). As you can see this is in the small window where the males are losing there colours. Still they are beautiful.
They grow to about 13-14cm and eat small insects. They are very curious and will come up to you when you are motionless. What is interesting about these birds is it won't be just the parents that will feed the young but also other adult members in the group.
I have seen them a few times huddle together and preen or groom each other and the centre being the preferred spot on the branch or twig between members.
