🦉 Siberian chiffchaff (Phylloscopus (collybita) tristis)
📚 Phylloscopus Greek: phyllon foliage, skopos seeker, observer
collybita collybista (lat.), kollybistēs, kollybos (Greek) money changer, small coin (name - for a song similar to the sound of falling coins)
tristis sad, gloomy, mournful
Oddly enough, these birds came to us later than usual. This species of warblers arrives first, but this year they were outstripped by willow warblers for some reason.
🦉 The redwing (Turdus iliacus)
📚 Turdus (Latin) thrush
iliacus (lat.) sides, iliacus with sides (i.e. with red sides)
Another oddity. There are a lot of these species of thrush this year, and there are more of them than the common fieldfare thrushes. Unlike them, these thrushes are very, very shy. It is very difficult to take a photo from the approach, you have to hide somewhere.
🦉 The tree pipit (Anthus trivialis)
📚 Anthus (ancient Greek mythology) Antus, son of Hippodamia, turned into a bird
Trivialis (lat.) common, simple, banal
Look at the color of their plumage. It's not so easy to spot these guys on the ground, among the old leaves. But they are always on the move, making it easier to observe and photograph.
