I believe you'll agree with me that birds are truly one of the most incredible creatures ever known. Their ability to craft intricate nests is just an evidence of their skill and ingenuity. No doubt about that.
Some time last year, I stumbled upon a masterpiece of a bird's nest that looks remarkably like a stocking or should I say, a boot. I was taking an evening stroll around my sister's yard, and I spotted it lying carelessly at a corner in the backyard. At first I thought it was a boot left by one of the workers.
But upon getting closer, I was struck - it wasn't a boot but a nest! I picked it up and wondered the type of bird that made this incredible work of art, and how it got there. A weaverbird, maybe?
No doubt, it was my brother-in-law who brought it back from the farm. That morning he had gone with the workers to harvest some palm fruits at their plantation, apparently, they'd found it on one of the trees.
As I admired it, I couldn't help but imagine the patience and dedication it took to weave those twigs and fibers into such a perfect shape. Gosh! Birds are just incredible!
I'd have shared these photos before now, but somehow, I found myself postponing it. Guess I was waiting for the right time to showcase this piece of gem that I found. 😂
And seriously, I can't wait to find out the bird that crafted it.
Have you ever seen a nest like this before? And any guesses what type of bird made this beauty? I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thank you.
