Neighbor ask me if I had seen any Hummingbirds. His wife had two feeders out front of their living room window. Said he was seeing a lot of them...
Well this gave me an incentive to put up my own feeder. Found my mother's old one, cleaned it up, went on line to learn more.
Learned that cleaning is very important. Sugar water gets slimy in a few days.. The bottle I saw was impossible to clean without some kind of brush...so I opened an Amazon account just to buy a $13 brush which is suppose to do the trick.
I was trying to stay away from the monopoly giant but the brush had to be had...☹
I couldn't wait for the brush so cleaned it as good as I could with bleach, Hung it up and waited.
And it worked...
After hanging it up in front of my kitchen window I went about my business. Coming out my door I see a "big" (sic) beautiful male with the red throat right at the feeder. When he saw me he took off.
So I set up a chair a bit a ways and waited with the telephoto lens.
To say the least this old guy was thrilled....
