One of my favorite birds that I rarely encounter is the horned grebe, along with a young one floating on a pond. They can be found near marshes and wetlands where you will also find a body of water like a pond or lake. The "horned" in their name refers to the orange-yellow crest feathers located above and behind their eyes.
