One of my favorite yellow birds, the Taveta golden weaver, is native to northeastern Tanzania and southeastern Kenya. I have some at my local Calgary zoo, and they are typically in a darker spot with other birds, which I believe is meant to simulate some of the darker canopy in their natural environments. The females will choose who they mate with based on how impressed they are with the males' ability to build a nest. The males will build extravagant oval nests over water that are attached to the stems of grasses or reeds.
