Today I want to share some photos that go along with this week's theme for the #SMaP Show Me A Photo Contest Round 123! So let's get started.
I want to start by saying that the rainy season has finally arrived to my city, it is a season that I love for several reasons and also hate for a couple more, first of all the intense heat wave was affecting me a lot (like every year) but I still looked for a way to go out and take pictures, I love the clouds in the sky mainly because they work as a huge diffuser for the light and that makes the pictures come out much better than with the harsh sunlight, the following pictures show it perfectly and let's start with the Turdus rufopalliatus that was cleaning his feathers and drying them, I think he took a bath because his feathers look wet, in this picture he turned to look at me as saying: what the fuck monster? I can't rest or what! After taking the picture he flew away and never came back.
But this wasn't the first picture I took of him, actually the next one was the first one and he was completely unprepared because he hadn't noticed my presence, so I think even in this picture he looks more natural, although he looks quite messy, like disheveled.
But the Luis Bienteveo (Pitangus sulphuratus) also decided to perch in the same place for me to take his picture, but it was a day earlier and with a little less light because the rain was about to fall, but I think I am liking this place a lot and I have started to keep watch to see what other birds come to this site that is located on the east side of my home. I had to raise the shadows a bit more to achieve the lighting in the photograph.
But back to the rain issue, one of the reasons and I think it's the main reason why I don't like this season, is that my photography gear is still a cheap one, my camera and lenses are not sealed against water, so although I can go out and take pictures I need to be very careful when taking the camera out, my backpack is sealed but the problem is to take the camera out, so for these pictures I went the easy way and shot everything around my house.
As you can see all these birds were perching, either on wires, walls, water tanks or light poles, none of them offer me something with the characteristics I would be looking for in a photograph because they are pictures I took of birds that were far away from my position so I need a new lens with a better focal length, although I don't think it's worth investing in such a lens without improving my camera first.
The next picture I do like enough to say it, it is a House sparrow that was also resting on a wire in front of my house, of this bird there is a very different or similar one, depending on how you want to see it, but the feathers on its chest are red and sings in a way that really makes you fall in love, that is why some people seek to have them in cages in their homes, I am not going to get into controversy about whether it is good or not to have birds like this because it all depends on your principles, but I already have a couple of weeks seeing one that likes to come to my garden, although he is very nervous and as soon as he sees a small movement he gets scared and flies away, and does not return for several days, I need to find a better way to camouflage myself in the garden, but as soon as I get the picture I will share them with you.
And that would be all for today, thank you all and good luck to the contestants.
