At 4 pm sharp, not a minute more, not a minute less, I showed up today (it is still February 1st in Cuba) at the house of my neighbour who invited me to watch a show of totíes. In English I believe this bird is known as Cuban Blackbird. It is most similar to a crow so will be happy to attend this show as well. 😀
But first let me show you some pictures I was able to take. They don't know me so any sudden movement from me scared them off. I set up the Akaso Brave 4 as soon as I arrived near where they eat and it was recording for about 13 minutes. I am only showing you the first 2 minutes and 37 seconds of that footage.
They are the stars of the feast, only a few sparrows came close to eat a few grains of rice that they dropped.
I took many photos from a very uncomfortable position because of the light, but I had nowhere else to stand because they were always watching my movements and I did not want to spoil their dynamic. This happens there every day.
It is a bird endemic to our country.
It eats wild seeds, fruit, corn, millet and rice. It has been observed by some ornithologists that it also eats ripe bananas, insects, small lizards and where there are cattle it eats their ticks. Ecured
My neighbours are very fond of birds. They have a parrot that lives loose inside the house and they told me that they saved a hummingbird that they found injured, feeding it in their hand, until it was completely healed and they let it free. They showed me the video and even sent it to me to share here.
I had a very nice time there. I love watching and photographing birds. These videos are posted hidden on my YouTube channel and can only be accessed via the links I share here, so Hive has the scoop.
