We don't have many gray crows. They are quite shy and it is difficult to get close to them. And they don't show up very often. They usually hide among tree branches. But even then it is difficult to get close to them. They immediately fly away.
But today I got lucky. At the edge of the forest near the river there is a rather flat and spacious place. There you can often see birds looking for food among last year's leaves. Mostly these are jackdaws and rooks. But today I saw a gray crow there.
Apparently she was very hungry. I tried to move towards her carefully and slowly. I thought that she would fly away at my approach, but she only raised her head and moved away from me when I approached her.
I stopped. The crow calmed down and I again began to slowly approach her. As soon as I got closer, the crow again moved away but did not fly away. Apparently due to the fact that there was food, the crow did not fly away.
She continued to look for something among the leaves and grass. I looked closely and saw how she deftly removes white larvae from under the fallen leaves. They were large enough that even I could see them from a considerable distance.
I immediately understood why this crow did not fly anywhere. She apparently did not want this food to go to someone else. That's why she acted so boldly. I also tried not to disturb her and hardly moved.
The crow often looked in my direction. She seemed to be afraid of me. Noah was pleased that she did not fly away and I managed to photograph her.
