Here are a few photos I took of a Baird's Sandpiper (Calidris bairdii) at the Gannel Estuary, Newquay, Cornwall.
The Baird's Sandpiper is a rare migrant visitor to UK shores, they breed in the Arctic from eastern Siberia, Alaska and Greenland. They migrate through North America and Winter in South America.

I spotted this bird back in September 2016 when I began to take more of an interest in bird watching and used a local bird sightings group website to ID the bird.
The Bird was looking for food in the sand, and you could get quite close without spooking, I was about 10ft away.
