I saw him coming over out of the sun and he gave me a few shots.
High up and in a blazing African sun and it was not easy on the zoom.
I took about 20 shots of him and only these below was fairly good for publishing. Not that I am complaining as it is only a wonder to get this raptor bird on camera. He was scouting for something to eat like his mother taught him and was graciously flying around with his eyes scanning for prey. I dream of the day that I will get one of them with a rodent or a snake in its beak.
It is a Jackal Buzzard of the Hawk family specie name (Buteo rufofuscus)
Then it was time for him to go.
Jackal Buzzards are endemic to Southern Africa and they prefer mountainous terrain and semi-desert areas. An aggressive hunter that sits on high spots at times to look for a quick dive onto it's prey.
We are blessed to have many raptors of different species of eagles, vultures, falcons, hawks and also a variety of smaller raptors like the sparrow-hawk and such.
King of the raptors is of course the world famous African Fish Eagle that I have posted before and it's one of my favorites.
I hope that you have enjoyed the pictures.
And That's All Friends.
