Come and watch Robbie the Robin's actions here, late afternoon.
A real beauty as his feathers were highlighted in the afternoon sun.
Robbie and his wife live here in a tree in our garden. Every breeding season they also build a new nest in the tree. It is always interesting to see how they change the positions of the nests according to the weather conditions, as water on the eggs is not a good idea. Let's have a look at the sky on the bird bath.
It was late afternoon today and this picture at the top of the mountain showed the time of day.
He popped along further along on the bird bath rim.
Then he made a turn showing me that he trusts me.
And there we go, as he splashed himself in the water.
Then into a spot in a tree to dry himself.
Robbie is a Cape Robin-chat (Cossypha caffra) ) and it is always fun to watch them taking a bath. Especially in cold weather late in the afternoon. They are very hygienic and keep themselves clean all of the time.
This is the same guy that wakes me up every morning as he calls the day in song. And at night, sometimes late night, we can also hear the last call by Robbie to announce the night.
They eat Marian's dried worms and have accepted us as fellow birds even though we look nothing like them.
They think Marian is a Goose and I am an Ostrich. Hahaha.
And That's All Friends!
