And for a change she didn't fly instantly but sat for a photo session.
The water bottle was placed right outside our study window and a few times now I couldn't get them on camera as they sit, sip and fly in an instant.
But not today.
Oh yes, she was close and watching me, but I didn't move.
Taking a gentle sip of some cool water.
She is a female Southern Double-collared Sunbird (Cinnyris chalybeus).
Oh yes, the camera continued to fascinate her and I think that she had some Hollywood hopes :)
Now look what she started to do here below.
Well whadda ya know! She bowed after her performance. Fluffing, her little feathers.
Before I could clap my hands and bellow an encore, she twisted around.
And then she was gone.
Hahaha, that flying bird in the photo above is not really her, but I think that it had the right message about her departure.
Such is life here, as the unexpected lies in wait to pounce and one has to be prepared to react in an instant. Had I done anything silly or tried to open the window she would be gone. So I only raised the camera very slowly and set the focus to get her. My great relief was that she stayed and I have yet to get the male as he disappears much faster than her.
But time will tell and I am sure that I will get him sooner or later.
For now I hope that you enjoyed the story and the pictures.
And That's All Friends.
