Summer and now the Rock Kestrel has returned to the tree where they nest.
I also have some Ravens in flight at the end of the post.
Out in nature again and try as I might, last year, I found their nest but I did not get one shot of the babies. This is a high tree and it is their favorite nesting and hunting spot. They can spot rats in the grass in the wide open spaces behind the tree. The long grass also suits them well, as then the prey cannot see them coming.
I spent some time to wait this guy out, as when I found him he was asleep.
Come and see.
This is the tree that they call their Summer home and you can see him there on the bottom branch.
I waited and waited, and at last he started peeping around.
Time for the zoom to start working.
The Rock Kestrel (Falco rupicolus) is of the falcon family.
The bugger was looking straight at me, but I was a very long distance away.
I am sure that he saw me though.
I said, in the intro, that I would show you some flying Ravens.
The distinctive tail and head shape gave him away as a White-necked Raven (Corvus albicollis)
This has to be the mom and her youngster following the dad.
Still very hot here, but I am pretty adept at finding a shady spot, leaning against a tree trunk that my clothing colors blend with. But of course birds, especially predators, have amazing eye-sight and they can pick up the slightest movement. Not that I moved much, as I am used to getting my shots in very slowly and calmly, but nevertheless I am still sure that the kestrel saw me.
Nature is the place to be in Summer here, as all kinds of surprises can confront one on any day at any place in the bush. So the habit is to get out there and to wait in a chosen hidden spot, now I know that not many are fond of waiting, but once you can create a meditation habit or a time just to be still, then all of a sudden things start happening around you.
I have encountered this many times, and it is definitely worth the wait.
While you wait, don't sneeze or bum-burp or cough as the birds and the animals and the insects have ears you know:)
Just a bit of a joke here, so don't stone me! As we have to smile at times.
And That's All Friends.
