Early morning and we had a hungry little Cape White-eye in the garden getting something to eat!
Today I will show you two kinds of birds active in urban areas that they now call home.
Always amazing to see how the residents of nature can adapt to human developments and how the birds just carry on with their normal lives.
Come and have a look!
The "Cape White-eye" (Zosterops virens) not only eats toasted cheese off sandwiches, but they also eat insects!

Now for something else!
Do you see a bird in this photo?
Well yes, I saw a lovely Pin-tailed Whydah (Vidua macroura)!
A beautiful adult male that the locals call the "King of Sixes"
They call him that as he usually has a harem of 6 wives!
I have seen him dive bomb any other birds that dare to enter his territory, even our little dog had to be careful 🤣
"The male pin-tailed whydah is territorial, and one male often has several females in his small group. He has an elaborate courtship flight display, which includes hovering over the female to display his tail. The song is given from a high perch, and consists of rapid squeaking and churring. The diet of this species consists of seeds and grain". Source
Finally I show you a family of "White-spotted Fruit Chafers" (Mausoleopsis amabilis) having breakfast on a pink rose bush.
And so, the animals blend in with our developments and birdsong awaken us in the mornings. A very soothing experience to some and an irritation to others. Especially when there are the very loud Hadeda Ibis's around, as their robust calls can wake the dead. The great thing is that you don't need an alarm cock, as the Hadedas will wake you at the exact same time before sunrise each morning (Even on Sundays and holidays)
Such is life!
And That's All Friends!
I leave you with this to think about!
