Today I will show you a Hadeda Ibis in action.
We visited a new conservation center only to discover that it was closed and so we went up on it's roof.
It is a flat roof on the building and they have started to plant some lovely succulents in gardens on the roof. The height was ideal to view the vast surrounding countryside and I also caught a raptor high up in the sky.
One can often find surprises in the combination of nature and human developments and it is mostly a pleasure, unless one encounters a danger such as a hungry leopard, or an angry baboon male, or a Green Mamba snake.
Come and I will show you the Hadedas.
As I said one can see splendid sights for miles around.
The Hadeda was watching me and the specie name is (Bostrychia hagedash)
Then suddenly this one came flying in.
Turning in a flourish of wing colors.
And sitting in the front of it's mate.
I left the Hadedas in peace as I saw something high up in the sky.
Now what could that possibly be here in the picture below ?
So I had a few seconds to get him on the zoom and then he was gone.
Possibly a Booted Eagle with the white colors under it's wings. (Hieraaetus pannatus)
Finally here is the kind of succulents that they plant in the roof garden.
Oh yes, we will certainly come back here when the new Environmental Center is open, as it is located in our local nature reserve that we often visit. Last year I got a pair of African Fish Eagles flying here that I posted, but none yet this year. We hear their famous call far off in the mountains, but impossible to search for them, as they could be anywhere. Maybe one of these days I will get lucky again to get one.
Hope that you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.
And That's All Friends.
