Our first storm rescue in this winter.
A dear old neighbor called us as this crow was lurking in her garden.
He lost his one foot in the storm!
Two years ago in June we rescued a young crow and today, again in June, we have another adult "Pied Crow" (Corvus capensis) in trouble. The young crow survived, but this adult one has a more serious problem as his one foot is gone. So, how a crow can lose a foot is beyond me.
So I collected him and he was soaked to the bone as it is raining here.
Thankfully our rescue blanket that we keep for these occasions dried him off.
He was not bleeding and that means the stump of his leg has sealed off, but it's going to take a while for him to recover.
This rescue cage of ours has seen many birds and other hurt animals over the years.
Thankfully he is eating and the neighbor's son fed him small blocks of steak meat and Marian also fed him some raw chicken over here.
The vet will collect him tomorrow morning as all of the other rescue places are full and they cannot help him.
The severe storm winds have damaged many wild animals as there are broken tree branches all over the place.
So yeah, he will stay here by us for the night.
And That's All Friends!
