The big and the small, or the small and the big, whatever.
Sitting on a rope strung over a dam was this little Malachite Kingfisher (Alcedo cristata)
Now when I hear the word Malachite, I usually thing about our beautiful green Malachite songbirds, but for some reason this little bird is also called a malachite. I think it is because of its metallic colors.
A beautiful little bird and it was too fast diving into the dam for me to get the dive on camera.
This Turkey was keeping an eye on us and you can see by it's suspicious look that he was not trusting our visit to their dam.
But innocently I just kept on taking photos of the little kingfisher bird.
In the meantime the turkey had called over a comrade to discuss our suspicious presence. I could hear it's whisper Barry do you think that they want to eat us?
Yep, Barry said, I know it's not Christmas time, but for safety sake let's take the family and get out of here :)
A lighthearted Friday post to get a smile and we have just completed two long charity meetings. Plans are made for new empowerment projects to be opened up in another town and our task is to find a premises near a township in the new area. We will follow our usual pattern of first meeting the community leaders in the new area and with their input, we will select the ideal spot to work from. It has to be within walking distance from the communities.
It is hot here again today and our mountains are covered by beautiful cloudy cloths.
Beautiful isn't it? And that's what we have freely for our enjoyment here in nature. The mountains look terrific today and I will show you the beauty in a second post soon.
But for now, we hope that you have enjoyed this post.
And That's All Friends.
