Remember that I asked you to identify this female Sunbird specie?
Only researched and got the answer right.
She kept an eye on me constantly even though I was a distance away and as usual I kept very still. The farm where I get the birds always offers me great birding finds and the sunbirds love this huge African Wild Dagga bush. Then in the surrounding trees I get the Malachite sunbird and near the mountain I get the Buzzard and other raptor birds.
But I talk too much, so come and see.
In the first four photos I will show you her beauty and then ...!
Right! Here he is and my legs went lame as I immediately knew what that black bird was.
Come and meet the mysterious Amethyst Sunbird (Chacomitra amethystina).
The Amethyst has a deep twittering song, although I have never heard one singing, and he is a local nomad in woodland and forest edges. Some of them move out of arid areas in Winter. Our Winter has started now, and I was blessed to get this one.
Like I said, this farm has a trove of bird species flying around all over the place and if I could, I would spend an entire day here and get tons of birds on camera. They farm fruits such as strawberries and others, and each section draws their own particular species of birds. The farm was established in 1926, so yes it is old and the birds are very comfortable on this old farm.
I hope that you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.
And That's All Friends.
