I had to stay at home today, but that didn't prevent me from responding to the Pied crow's attack calls.
First to cross over was a Harrier Hawk that upset the crow and I know the crow's attack calls, "quirk, quirk".
A fight today between a Pied Crow and three raptor imposters of different species that entered the crow's territory.
I have seen this many times before and normally it takes place very high up, but occasionally I can get them on camera. Today was such a day and I was lucky to get the action a bit closer. The harrier hawk is a known nest raider and he is the crow's main enemy, but the crow will also attack any other raptor that dares to enter his territory.
As I will show you here.
Bang! the crow hit him in the air and an aerial battle ensued.
The crow continued with his diving attacks
And eventually they disappeared from sight.
Here was the crow warrior on his way back.
But soon the crow was after a Sparrow Hawk again.
And while the crow was chasing the sparrow hawk, this guy came over.
It seems that the crow rewarded himself with a treat after all of his successful attacks to get the raptors out of his territory :)
So now I know the time that the raptors come over, between 2pm and 3pm and in future I will be ready for them. I think that the crow also knows what time they come over and he sits ready to attack at the exact times. The crows must have a nest at the river that runs past our house and they are fierce protectors of their babies.
I hope that you have enjoyed the action and the story.
And That's All Friends.
