I have to confess, when I read this week's SMAP contest theme, Angry Birds, I immediatly remembered the game where you would toss birds and create havoc; ages since I've played it! 😁
Had to dig in the archives to find some mean-faced birds! Most of the birds seem friendly to me, but managed to find some that didn't seemed to pleased to have their photo taken. Curiously, they're almost all from Costa Rica! Maybe some latino trait? 😉
This vulture wasn't pleased! Maybe because I was interrupting his beach walk. Mother nature makes them stick their head in corpses to feed, so I guess they do have some reason for that angry look!
At the north of the country, another angry look. But this time, I think it was because we found her hiding place.
She was hidden among the foliage in Tortuguero, an awesome national park in the east part of the country. She would probably go unnoticed if we didn't had a park guide with eagle eyes.
Another bird with reasons to be annoyed was this little guy. In a road in the middle of nowhere, we spotted a roadside hawk having lunch.
I can relate... I hate it too, when someone interrupts my meals! But this guy was too photogenic to waste the opportunity, it's not that common to be able to catch birds of prey perched.
In my home country we can find some grumpy birds too. Straight from the Alentejo fields, this iberian shrike was probably cursing at me!
Since they are known for impaling their prey... they're probably best left alone! 😉
Hope you're having a great weekend!
