The more the merrier, but in this case, two is the winning number: the theme for this week's SMAP is Two Birds! So, only two it is.
Now, I don't usually focus on photographing only two birds, but given the amount of times I try to get them on camera, I was bound to have photos with only two of them. This couple was a funny sighting: it wasn't the first time I had seen egyptian goose, they started appearing in Portugal a couple years ago. And when I saw this pair in particular, I realised it was the first time I was seeing them where they should be, because I took this photo while travelling through Egypt!
It was also during the same trip that I spotted these wagtails, but there wasn't any surprise here, since they exist in tons of places! The one on the right seemed like a juvenile following the other one searching for food.
As for this lovely couple in the golden hour, I decided not to place an identification because sillouettes can be deceiving; although I'm 99% sure they were coots, gliding along a lake in an awesome urban park in Tirana, Albania.
Coots are a common species everywhere... just like seagulls!
Of course, we don't see them raiding fortresses with cannons everytime. They flew from a huge port where vendors displayed fresh caught fish, so I wouldn't be surprised if they had done some mischief and where fleeing the scene.
As for these guys... albeit the innocent looks, they were perching in a statue in an ancient temple: totally forbidden, but they couldn't care less. And the amount of crap everywhere are a tell they perch there pretty often!
So there you have it, five lovely couples. Now I'm curious to see what everyone else has come up with for this week! :)
