🦉 The European robin (Erithacus rubecula)
- Erithacus erithakos (Greek) unidentified small bird in
the works of ancient authors; erythros (Greek, lat.) red- rubecula ruber (lat.) red, reddish, rubeculus diminished. by ruber
This bright beautiful bird is very strange in my opinion. It is insectivorous, but returns from wintering early, when there is still snow, and migrates late; there have been cases when I met these birds in November. Is such a thin bird really frost-resistant?
I have repeatedly heard from other birdwatchers and ornithologists that in some regions this bird generally remained for the winter. And I remember watching a video, in some city park this bird was fed with crushed nuts.
