🦉 The willow tit (Poecile montanus)
- Poecile poikilis (Greek) an unidentified small bird mentioned in ancient texts
- montanus (lat .) : mōns, montis mountain, mountain range, montanus mountain
These agile and agile tits live in any forest and can be found at any time of the year. They lead a typical “titmouse” lifestyle. During nesting they live in pairs, and during the rest of the year in small flocks, and participate in a mixed bird flock.
It is very funny to watch them in the fall when they jump on dry fallen leaves and turn them over in search of seeds.
Like great tits, they are very easy to tame. In parks where feeders are located and birds are accustomed to people, you can feed them directly from your hand.
