🦉 The Siberian rubythroat (Calliope calliope)
- Calliope (ancient Greek mythology) Calliope - the eldest of the muses, the goddess of chants, the muse of epic poetry
This nightingale is a real mystery to me. I can't figure out when they fly back from wintering. They literally appear suddenly and unnoticed, and I first meet them around mid-June. Most likely, the bird carefully hides in the bushes and is silent all this time. But then, when it starts singing, you immediately notice this beautiful singer.
The song consists of many different sounds, such as whistles, chirps, trills, and of course the endless variety of voices of other birds.
And yes, regarding sexual dimorphism, "rubythroat" is only about males, females (2nd photo) have a white throat, and I meet them very rarely.
