🦉 The coal tit or cole tit (Periparus ater)
- Peri (Greek) very, hugely
- Parus (lat.) Tit
- ater (lat.) black, dark
This tiny bird is also called the "little tit" or "mossy." It is one of the smallest tits, weighing only 9 grams. This miracle lives mainly in coniferous forests, but in small numbers they can also be found in mixed forests.
In winter, I rarely see them, only occasionally near the bird feeders in the city park. But with the arrival of spring, I always hear the male actively singing a song that is somewhat reminiscent of the great tit.
