🦉 The black kite (Milvus migrans)
- Milvus (lat) - kite
- migrans (lat.) - migrating
These are amazingly punctual birds! They arrive every year from April 2nd to 4th, regardless of the weather.
While other migratory birds rely on weather conditions and may arrive later, or arrive and then fly away again to escape the colder days, kites always arrive on time. Their lifestyle allows them to always find food.
Although they are birds of prey, they prefer carrion; for example, they adore pigeons crushed by cars in city courtyards. They are also not averse to scraps from garbage cans and landfills.
