🦉 The western yellow wagtail (Motacilla flava)
📚 Motacilla lat .: mōto, mōtare move continuously, -cilla tail (cilla like a tail -
only in ornithology, erroneous established name)
📚 flava flavus (lat.) yellow, gold, golden yellow
These are typical inhabitants of damp or even swampy meadows, mostly near rivers or lakes. However, in my city, they live in an ordinary meadow, although not far from the water, and there is one small lake and river nearby.
These birds do not fly high, and live in low bushes, where they nest. By the way, nests are made from dry stalks, roots and dry leaves, which they can easily find in the meadow.
In spring, the plumage of the male is especially prominent in the middle of a monochromatic, not bright background of vegetation. The male flies up and demonstrates the breast and tail.
