π¦ The European herring gull (Larus argentatus)
π Larus (lat.) seagull; sea bird
π argentatus lat .: argentum silver, argentatus
silver plated, silver

Perhaps this is the most famous and widespread gull. Her Latin and Russian names coincide and fully reflect the appearance, namely the silvery-gray color.
But in these photos it is a young bird. You see, the tips of her wings are not yet black, but the wings themselves are brown.

These birds are almost omnivorous, well, I think you already know that. However, in my city, these birds are extremely wild, and near people are not found. That is why they eat fish, shellfish, and generally hunt on and along the river.

π¦ The black-headed gull (Chroicocephalus ridibundus)
π Chroicocephalus Greek: khroizΕ to paint, kephalΔ head
π ridibundus lat .: ridΔre laugh, ridibundus laughing

And this is another species of seagulls living along the river. However, this species is less common in my city.
And again in the photo is a young bird. In adults, the head is dark brown, almost black.
The diet of these birds is more varied. She feeds on insects and other invertebrates, small fish, seeds and berries, small rodents. Insects are often caught in flight.
