🦉 The Eurasian three-toed woodpecker (Picoides tridactylus)
📚 Picoides picus (lat.) woodpecker, -oides similar
📚 tridactylus tridaktylos (Greek) three-toed
It is very strange, but this type of woodpecker appears in our forests only in autumn, when the leaves of the trees are already turning yellow and red. And often these woodpeckers are not alone, but in the company of other birds, in the so-called mixed bird flock.
What I noticed is that, unlike other woodpeckers, this species (at least in autumn and winter) does not examine trees higher than 3 meters, prefers to examine them from below. In addition, he is not as shy as the rest of the woodpeckers. And all this allows you to observe him from close distances and take high-quality photos.
