🦉 The common chaffinch or simply the chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs)
📚fringilla (lat.) - finch; fi nco (Old German), fi nc (Old English)
📚coelebs(lat.) - single, idle, unmarried
This bird is one of the most famous singers in the forest. As soon as spring begins, the snow barely begins to melt from the warm sun, these birds appear. To be more precise, these are the first days of April.
Experienced adult males arrive first. They are distributed over the territories and begin to actively sing songs. Females and young males arrive a few days later.
After the mating season, the males stop singing and take care of the nestlings. Only sometimes you can hear short calls that are similar in sound to the calls of great tits.
