π¦ The green sandpiper (Tringa ochropus)
π Tringa (Greek): tryngas - is a thrush-sized waterbird in Aristotle's texts
ochropus (Greek): Εkhros - buffy, pous - leg
If you watch birds for more than one year, you will notice that the same birds can visit and appear in the same places. I see these birds every year on this small lake. They appear here in July. In the amount of 5-6 birds.
They roam the muddy shore in search of food, namely aquatic insects, dragonflies, molluscs, and small fish. This sandpiper has caught a fish.
An interesting feature of these birds is that they do not nest on the ground in the bushes, as most sandpipers do, but occupy old nests of other birds, especially thrushes.
