On a Sunday walk through our local marsh, we managed to get lucky and find a black crowned night heron. Honestly, I missed it as we walked past a small part of the marsh. My wife and daughter did not...and fortunately, I had my new camera with me to get some close-ups.
From the little research I've done online, this unique heron likes to be more lively at night. With some luck, however, this one decided to do some lunch earlier in the day.
What a beautiful water bird. It was quite large, too; almost surreal in size, honestly. The long strands of white feathers were quite unique to see in person too.
The local marsh...the gift that keeps on giving! There is never a #feathered-friends dull moment here...and were are fortunate for it. Hopefully more photos to come before winter arrives....
