Here are a few cold birds for this #featheredfriday
My wife noticed a cold visitor on the balcony in the morning.
This starling was eating snow and trying to warm up in the southern exposure sun. I'm sure it was hoping for a feeder to be here too but our HOA doesn't allow it because swarms of sparrows would poop up the side of the building if feeders were out.
So it had to make due with cold snow to eat. Later we saw a dove land here too but we were not fast enough to get the camera.
Instead I went out in the subzero weather to see who was out and about looking for food. The nuthatches were active.
I'm wondering if it was trying to eat tiny bits of moss on the bark?
I doubt it can find any bugs at this time of year.
This old fashioned barn always throws me for a loop from a distance. The top resembles a large hawk sitting on the top and I took a zoom shot just to see what it was... Sadly not a hawk.
Here's a young little raccoon taking drink before heading back to its den to stay warm. Or perhaps it lives in the old barn...
This poor squirrel was doing its best to warm up in the cold sun. It always seems to get colder here when the sun is out in the winter. Less cloud insulation I guess. I thought it would be a mild winter but it turns out to be pretty darn cold this year.
That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
