Here is an annoyed juvenile owl for this #featheredfriday by
I was walking in the evening with my wife and while I was looking around on the ground for mushrooms she spotted a great horned owl on the ground eating something.
She grabbed my arm to warn me of the owl and right when I pointed my camera, it took flight. The evening light is really bad for my zoom lens so I got this motion blur shot. Fortunately in a surprise turn of events it flew right back at us and landed in a tree for clearer shots.
You can't really escape the view of an owl. As I approached for a closer shot it kept its eye on me the whole time.
Now it has turned its view to something higher up in the trees. Looks a bit worried about it...
The terror of the forest is screeching and dive bombing the owl. The blue jays are quite brazen and brave. I hope the owl wasn't eating one of its babies on the ground...
Now the owl is getting dive bombed and pecked non-stop by the blue jay. Poor thing has to blink its eyes after each attack as the blue jay seems to peck right at its eyes.
I tried getting the attacks in a shot by my zoom lens is way too slow in this low light of evening. I just seem to miss each attack and only get the aftermath of the owl blinking after its been hit in the head.
Last month I spotted them when they were still fuzzy now they have their full feathers in. I'm sure they are sticking around for all the squirrels in the park. Easy pickings for owls. Squirrels better watch out, I wonder if I'll be able to keep posting for #squirrelsunday once the owls clear them all out...
As usual the red winged black birds posed for me. I wish the owls would pose out in the open like this on a clearer background. Maybe if I keep checking around here I might get the opportunity...
That's all for now, thanks for looking and happy #featheredfriday :-)
