Here is my first ever entry to the Show me a Photo contest by with the theme of "small bird"
With my supreme birdwatching and sneaking skills I crept up to this tiny Magnolia Warbler while he was taking a nap. The little guy was smaller than a house sparrow maybe about 4.5" beak to tail. Normally tiny birds like this are bouncing around everywhere in the thickets making it impossible to get a clear shot of them.
As I got closer and closer to him he eventually woke up and started bouncing into the branches.
Off he went higher up into the branches.
Now he is gone out of range. These are what most photos of tiny birds look like for me. Dark silhouettes with branches blocking them. Fortunately he was very tired and I was able to get some nice feather detail in the first photo. I tend to see these little guys early in spring here along with many other warblers passing through.
