These corvids have had a month or two to get used to us, and now when we leave peanuts they will fly over head and land less than 10 feet from us. Starting off they would not get anywhere as close, but over time they seem to have gotten used to us. And now hang around the time of day we tend to feed them. They have not left any gifts yet, but sure are taking what we are giving them. Only an hour passes before the tray is usually empty again. A flurry of blue shows up and takes them all away. I can hear tapping in the trees near by as they break them open on their favorite branch.

A college of a bunch of close ups, using my macro lens its the best close up I can provide using my GH6 camera.
It is a lot of fun just watching them swoop in and land, take a few nuts and fly off again. Sometimes they abort their landing and go back to the tree.. Usually if I move too much.
Sometimes they just hang out in the tree until one brave enough jay flies in and then the others do too. Maybe there are alpha jays and such.. no idea.
They are picky, checking out the peanuts and throwing off the empty shells from the tray. We always come back to an empty tray, nice they clean up after themselves.
So many show up, I wonder how big their families are. I am sure 20 or more different jays visit the tray before its empty. Sometimes when I walk behind the feeder I can just see them all coming in hopping from tree to tree.
Even a wood pecker showed up to see what all the commotion was about, see it to the right upper corner.
Many of the jays just hanged out in the trees, hoping I would leave... hah
A couple more close ups of these jays, I really need a long distance lens. Or set up my camera close and walk away.
Well even if we were trying to attract crows its cool to get a different kind of corvid visiting the trays. And seems they are very happy with it.
A short video showing off a few angles of them visiting the tray.
