The Berg (Mountain) river is one of the major rivers in the Western Cape, South Africa. It is 294 kilometres (183 miles) long. It ends its journey into the Atlantic Ocean on the West Coast of South Africa through a fishing village called Velddrif.
At this point there is a short dirt road right on the edge of the river that serves local subsistence fishermen with wooden jetties to tie up their boats to. The river is home to a vast number of beautiful water birds. Naturally, where there are fishermen, there will be fish eating birds hanging around in the hope of an opportunistic meal. Bokkomlaan is no different and has a resident group of Pelicans that get tossed offcuts of fish caught by the local fishermen as the prepare the caught fish for sale to the public.
The Pelicans put on incredible shows during these times and here a beautiful lady can be seen dressing herself up for her next free meal.
Thanks for the contest and all you do for this community. This is my entry into @SMAP Round 83.
