Hello Hello Hivians
When I was up at 5 this morning making Mrs T's breakfast and lunch so she could take to work, the sun was shining!
Yes it was fluffing shining, I was in shock, the weather in July has been crappy to put it mildly. Sun hidden by grey clouds and often threatening to rain and indeed at times raining!
So when Alexa said it will rain at 9am and then continue to be crappy weather with rain for the rest of the week, I hatched a plan.
Making a sandwich for me, and packing some bird seed for the birds, and some pellets for the ducks and swans, and making myself a thermos of coffee, I packed the backpack, grabbed my camera and phone and zipped up to the park.
Yesterday I saw that had posted Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 126! and the theme was birds in the grass.
I do love to join in the #smap and make a wee story, so today I was determined as I walked to the park that I would take some suitable pictures and make a post. After all I am sure there were jackdaws, magpies and pigeons aplenty that would give me a story ... right?
However, before I had got to the park, this wee blackbird was looking at me and saying .... Hey, what about us, we wander around in the grass!
Just look at those little eyes looking at me!
Into the park I went, and crossing the football pitches on the way to the pond, I got given the tail!
Given the tail?
Yes Mrs T is American and when they flip you off with their middle finger they call it giving you the bird. So when a bird turns it back on you, I call it them doing the bird or giving you the tail!
Off to the pond I went ...
I had spied the swans, do you see them with the five kids? That is for another day, today is about what we see on the grass.
Of course I was feeding the swans and that attracted attention!
Actually, I had spied the swan family at the bottom of the pond, so as I was getting my food out, I saw Margie Mallard having a preen of her feathers in the grass. Clickety Click onto my post you come Margie!
Am I pretty enough for the post Tengo I heard her say!
Oh fluff yes I told her...
Right then back to the birds on the grass!
I did drop some bird seed and Jackie Jackdaw did give the waterfowl the bird by turning his back on them...
I walked up and was feeding the swans, you can see them chowing down on their little brown pellets....
.... but look who were watching on with jealously written all over their feathers!
Yes, some of the seagulls. The swans might tolerate ducks but no fluffing way will they let seagulls steal their food!
Normally the moorhens are pretty skittish and will run away from me, but this one was wanting to see what was going on!
So it joined in and stood in the gallery watching the swans eating their food!
By this time, the word was out, the gallery was growing!
A trio of female mallard ducks had joined the gallery. They were really envious of the swans being fed. In fact ...
... Milly Mallard was so inquisitive and demanding that I thought she must be a female Hivian🤣 Joking aside, she wanted to feed.
She actually took some of the pellets out of my hand, bless her.
I had fed the swan family and a few ducks moorhens and coots, and now it was time to go and take some pictures for another post that I had in mind.
The magpies were still looking at all the commotion from the birds feeding at the pond.
Even Mad Maximilian Magpie got in on the act. You will note that he was watching from prison where he is serving out his sentence for stealing gold rings.
I was heading out one of the gates when I spotted the courting couple, Samson and Sarah Seagull.
They looked like they were joined at the hip. But then...
... Samson took a step backwards and said ...
"I beg your pardon Sarah but what did you say?"
The last picture above is my entry ☝️☝️☝️ for #smap 126, check Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 126! for more details and the theme is birds in the grass.
I am not so sure that was the best picture as my entry, would you have chosen another one?
Thanks for visiting and have a fantastic July ....
All images and ramblings are from me, the mad Scotsman TengoLoTodo.
