With this week's #smap being BIRD HOUSES, I was a little disappointed that the only birdhouse we have at the farm is the one that was given to her by our oldest son.
I challenged her to an arm-wrestling competition to see who would use the only birdhouse we have for this week's competition, but she would have none of that. She claimed that since it was given to her, she had the right to use it. With such a logical explanation, I relented and had to come up with another idea.
Being that I'm considered BOB THE BUILDER, not always a title I enjoy as my services are called upon quite often. Saying no is not the way I operate when it comes to family and good friends, and when my help is required I answer the bell.
So my answer to this dilemma was to put on my builder's hat and get busy with a #DIY project, building a #birdhouse.
I have built many houses from the ground up, including our FARMHOUSE, and would call on these skills once again. Although I swore that after completing our home here in Upstate New York, I would never build another one, this one would be an exception.
As I was putting the birdhouse together, I was thinking of a way to dress up the birdhouse a little and decided that I would put a copper roof on the dwelling. Using pennies, 240 of them to cover each side of the roof, 480 in all, I hunted down every penny in the house, car, junk draw, and anywhere one might be hiding. The last thing I wanted to do was take the 16-mile trek to the bank in town.
When I came up short by over 100 pennies, I grabbed the keys to the car and let know that I was headed to town to get two rolls of pennies.
Well, the girl has a few mason jars full of change and she was holding back. She had given me the pennies from one of those jars, but not the other jar. She does love her spare change and it took some bartering to have her give up the pennies I needed to complete the copper roof. She is a wheeler-dealer, to say the least, and I must say she drives a hard bargain.
I now owe her a back rub, a dinner out, a home-cooked meal, a box of chocolate, a bouquet of flowers, and a few other things I will keep to myself. 😁
The Lincoln Bedroom is a bedroom that is part of a guest suite located in the southeast corner of the second floor of the White House in Washington, D.C. The Lincoln Sitting Room makes up the other part of the suite. The room is named for President Abraham Lincoln, who used the room as an office.

For our bird lovers north of the border, I've included a MAPLE LEAF PENNY standing alongside of the Lincoln penny, adorning the eve of the Lincoln Bedroom.
Now that this TINY house is complete, is after me to build one for her, tiny, just not as tiny.
A big shout out to all of those who are at the sticks of one of the very best communities here #hive.
