I wonder what the #featheredfriends community will come up with this week. Here in Upstate New York we have the perfect medium, snow, for birds to leave their tracks in. With all of the snow we've gotten lately, filling the bird feeders is no simple task. But, throwing some seed on our front porch is simple.
We like to keep the porch free of snow in order to do this. When the deck is clean and when newly fallen snow first starts to blanket the deck, bird prints are all over the place. We get all kind of visitors and before long it's hard to tell one print from the next, but if you catch the guests early on, their prints are easy to distinguish. These prints were left behind by a Black- capped chickadee.
Usually the Cardinals are very skittish, but with food hard to find I was only several feet from them, sitting on the porch, when I took this pic. By this point the bird tracks were a pile of mish mosh.
but when you're hungry your hungry.
At one point I counted ten of them all feeding at the same time.
Many thanks to and her buddies

for the tireless hours spent running this wonderful #featheredfriends community.
