For some reason, when they want to humiliate someone's mental abilities, they say "stupid chicken". Every time I think - the one who says that obviously never lived next to real chickens and has no idea what kind of creatures they really are, and saw them only in a picture or on a shelf in a supermarket (I don't even want to discuss the latter, because I'm a vegan).
Chickens are very intelligent. Seriously. And I say this not as an animal lover to whom they all seem smart, but as a person who observes them every day and is constantly convinced of this in practice. It's no coincidence that now many people have chickens as pets.
Here's a simple example - nests. If you think that the chicken will just sit where you tell it and will calmly lay eggs - you are a very optimistic person 😄 Of course, if you do not leave them any options at all, they will sit in the chicken coop. But it is only necessary to give them a little more freedom - and the real quest begins. And I also say this from my own experience.
I don't know about other chickens, but my chickens hide their nests so that finding them is a separate art. Under the bushes, in the corners that you haven't checked for a long time, behind some boards, in the thick grass, in the doghouse (no one uses the box, my dogs live in the house on the couch 😂) - in general, where you definitely won't guess to look. I already thought that my chickens stopped rushing at all - and then I found eight eggs in one place at once. We sat and waited for me to calm down and stop looking.
So the next time you hear "stupid chicken" - know, this chicken has probably already hidden eggs from you in three different places and knows perfectly well what it's doing 😂🐔
