Hello Feathered Friends!
There is a forest reserve near my home where I enjoy taking hikes on the weekends. In the forest, there are two small ponds. One is directly adjacent to one of the trails that offers a beautiful view in the Fall as the leaves begin to change, and the second a smaller, more secluded pond that is tucked away off trail just over a ridge on the opposite side of the lake to the vantage shown below.
Pond on the trail Fall 2020:
With the return of Spring, and signs of life returning to the woods, I went out again this weekend to take a few pictures. While walking around the smaller, secluded pond this weekend, I was visited by a pair of Canadian geese who swooped down to rest in the water. Assuming they were none to pleased to have an intruder walking around their personal oasis, I spent spent only a few minutes to take some pictures before heading on my way.
In that time, I watched a brief display of the two swim out to the center of the pond before facing one another followed by seemingly choreographed and reciprocated flails and nods of their necks and beaks between one another. The image I would like to submit for this week is a shot I took of the two during this "dance." Unfortunately, I was facing into the sun when this was happening, so most of the pictures taken are of poor quality. I did however like the following image that came out as a silhouette. I hope you enjoy it too! In addition to this shot, I've attached a few other images I was able to take after reaching the other side of the pond.
