A tale of torrid love .... Can we insanely love someone and HATE her/him a the same time? YES, in short.
This Rose ringed parakeet couple demonstrated pretty much what some human couples go through and it got me thinking...
I hate you!
Gif created by me with my own click and graphics
I was roaming around in a small patch of dense trees, literally next door during the last lockdown. Unable to venture out far, I had taken to finding whatever subjects I could photograph in my backyard or in this nearby tree patch.
Rose ringed parakeets were aplenty in the region but this particular pair caught my attention. I had climbed atop a small abandoned structure (probably a storage room for construction material) and was almost at eye level with the branches of a big tree.
This parakeet pair landed on the tree and displayed some very interesting characteristics. After staring at each other for some moments, the male parakeet suddenly lifted a claw and hit the lady on the head and then held the claw as if saying "stay away from me- Talk to the Hand". "Ooops - this seems a married couple and the guy hates her. Some domestic violence going on too"" wondered I. 😀
Stay away from me- Talk to hand
My own click
Without even breathing loudly, I clicked a few shots and watched through my viewfinder as the drama unfolded further.
Funnily enough, the male hit the lady parakeet on the head couple more times. They were not blows actually - more like a tap...
The third or forth tap almost turned into a caress....
What is this - a 'Love-Hate' relationship? He is almost trying to stay away from her but drawn to her?
Apparently so - because in the next instant, the male parakeet swiftly closed the distance between them. Almost as if drawn by an invisible force. Then they KISSED!!
Not just a peck either. This was a proper tongue in mouth French kiss! Don't believe me? Then please take a look at the click below...
A French KISS 😲

The kiss continued for quite a few moments. They disengaged, the male moved away, did the 'talk to the hand' gesture couple more times. Poor guy was trying to break free from the emotions I think.
However, all his self control seemed to go for a toss and he moved close again. Then, THERE WAS LOVE in the air. Some X to XXX rated stuff followed which I declined to photograph but like some film directors who include a tasteful (?) shot or two to complement the emotions in the storyline, I only took this tasteful and indicative shot..
Ultimate LOVE

Damnnnn - I need to take a few lessons from this guy I thought. If a love-hate relationship can end up like this then probably us 'mature' ones (read - on the way to becoming Old 😀) need more of such relationships!!
Just kidding. Love-Hate relationships are not probably healthy. Here are a few signs of the Love-hate relationship from which we can clearly see, that such a relationship is going to be stressful for us..
Few signs of love-hate relationship
On again off again relationship - We fight and break up constantly but make up again
Insecure about the relationship - Even when things are going great, we wonder when the next bad thing is going to happen
Complaining about one another to close friends - We find close friends closer and complain about our partner
Friends resist our getting together again - Friends, as outside observers can see signs that we are not going to be in a healthy relationship
Can not stop thinking about the partner - Even during a 'Hate you' moment.
The confused couple

There- do we need such complexity in life. From the signs, it looks like we are going to be the 'confused couple' all the time. Wasting precious moments of life in either confusion or bitterness.
What is the solution to this? I really do not know at this point in time. Please feel free to comment and let me know your views.
