At first I watched One Piece just for entertainment.. Pirate stories , fighting enemies , finding treasure , that's it..But the longer I watched it , the more it felt like... "eh, is this satirizing the real world?"
The more I follow the adventures of Luffy and the Straw Hat crew , the more I realize that this is not just another adventure anime.. There are so many things that connect to the real world - from racism , corruption , manipulated history , to freedom that is actually very expensive..
That's why I wrote this article.. So that you can feel what I feel - that One Piece is not just about straw hats and gum-gums and guns.. It's also about being a free human being... in a world that is sometimes unfair.
🔍 Real World Issues Tucked in One Piece
• 🏛️ 1. Corruption and Politics

The World Government looks neat from the outside , but it's rotten inside. Tenryuubito can arbitrarily enslave people, even shoot people in public.. Luffy couldn't stand it until he finally bret! punched the nobleman in episode 396.. It's so satisfying to see!

Ohara Island was erased from the map just because they wanted to read history.. Little Robin cried when his mom left , and shouted “I want to live!”. That moment is still one of the most emotional scenes for me....

Luffy is willing to challenge the World Government to save a friend.. When Ace was about to be executed , the whole world was told to watch - to be afraid.. But Luffy came and defied all that for one thing: freedom..

- And sometimes , the so-called villains. are the most honest...!
Through Luffy's laughter , Robin's tears , and Ace's dreams - One Piece taught me not to give up.. To keep standing up, even when the world tells us to bow down..
So if you think this anime is only for kids or empty entertainment , try watching it with more open eyes..
Because it could be that the answers to many things in the real world... are actually in the world of fiction..
