That's why when I went to my sister-in-law's or my comadre's house, I took advantage as much as I could to watch movies, series and anything else that came my way.
After emigrating (for which I had to sell absolutely everything!) of course, among the expenses was not to pay a subscription to Netflix, although here they are not a big expense, we were always with the anguish of covering the basics: rent and food, the rest was going on things for the kids and trifles.
But that ended when I discovered an App called PlutoTv in my phone's play store.
While I assumed it wouldn't be remotely close to Netflix, I gave it a chance to surprise me and it sort of filled that void I had with regards to sitting down to marathon for a while, and boy was I not disappointed, at least on the first try.
The good thing about PlutoTv is that you can have it on the App or watch it directly from the computer, so while you distract the little ones with some cartoons on the computer, you can go somewhere else to watch whatever you want without interruptions (although in my case that does not happen because they crave for everything just when I get ready to watch something).
The offer, in terms of genres is quite wide, as it brings series, movies, cartoons, documentaries, sports, K-dramas, some animes, among many others, and even the signal of open TV channels (at least to me it shows me the Argentinean ones, I do not know if it depends on the country to offer them) although very reduced in the amount of each one compared to other App, but well ... it's free, do not get so exquisite.
They add new material monthly and have a live feed, in case you don't have a particular selection. That's why I qualified it as the Netflix of the poor, although they are not really at the same level, but with a good internet connection, you have at least an outlet to get rid of open TV programming, which usually leaves much to be desired with respect to the variety of supply.
What I like:
1.- It's free! and it's not an App that takes up a lot of space on your phone.
2.- There is a lot to watch, although Netflix triples the offer, for those of us who do not have the money for the subscription, it works perfectly, because there is not so much free time to watch everything that is offered.
3.- They renew the material from time to time, but they leave in lists the ones that have been popular.
4.- They have a retro space, presenting series and cartoons from my childhood, which I have shown to my children so they can see how we were distracted when I was little.
What I don't like
I have no complaints about the App, except that it has too many commercials that can't be avoided even if you pay for them.
I still hope to have Netflix at some point, but I have to thank PlutoTv for saving my life in this aspect, since after a long day at work, it is always good to have a movie that helps to distract a little bit.
Recuerdo que cuando salió Netflix yo estaba ansiosa por poder suscribirme, pero en ese entonces había dos atenuantes: no tenía dinero extra como para pagar y tampoco contaba con internet en mi casa recién comprada.
Por eso cuando iba a casa de mi cuñada o de mi comadre, aprovechaba lo más que podía para ver películas, series y todo lo que se atravesaba.
Luego de emigrar (para lo que tuve que vender absolutamente todo!) por supuesto que entre los gastos no estaba pagarme una suscripción a Netflix, aunque acá no resultan un gran gasto, siempre estábamos con la angustia de cubrir lo básico: alquiler y comida, lo demás se iba en cosas para los chicos y menudencias.
Pero eso terminó cuando descubrí en la play store del teléfono una App llamada PlutoTv.
Aunque suponía que no sería ni remotamente cercana a Netflix, le di la oportunidad de sorprenderme y en cierto modo llenó ese vacío que tenía con respecto a sentarme a maratonear un rato, y vaya que no me decepcionó, por lo menos a la primera.
Lo bueno de PlutoTv es que lo puedes tener en la App o verlo directamente del computador, así que mientras distraes a los pequeños con algunos dibujitos en la computadora, te puedes ir a otro lugar a ver lo que desees sin interrupciones (aunque en mi caso eso no sucede porque se antojan de cada cosa justo cuando me dispongo a ver algo)
La oferta, en cuanto a géneros es bastante amplia, pues trae series, películas, dibujos animados, documentales, deportes, K-dramas, algunos animes, entre muchos otros, e inclusive la señal de canales de tv abierta (por lo menos a mi me muestra los argentinos, no sé si depende del país para ofrecerlos) aunque muy reducida en la cantidad de cada uno en comparación con otras App, pero bueno... es gratuita, no hay que ponerse tan exquisitos.
Mensualmente agregan material novedoso y tienen señal en vivo, por si no tienes alguna selección en particular. Por eso la califiqué como el Netflix de los pobres, aunque realmente no están al mismo nivel, pero con una buena conexión a internet, tienes por lo menos una salida de librarte de la programación de Tv abierta, que por lo general, deja mucho que desear con respecto a la variedad de la oferta.
Lo que me gusta:
1.- Es gratis! y no es una App que ocupe mucho espacio en el teléfono.
2.- Hay mucho para ver, aunque Netflix le triplica la oferta, para quienes no tenemos el dinero de la suscripción, funciona perfectamente, pues no existe tanto tiempo libre como para ver todo lo que se ofrece.
3.- Renuevan el material cada cierto tiempo, pero van dejando en listas los que han sido populares.
4.- Tienen un espacio retro, presentando series y dibujos animados de mi infancia, que he mostrado a mis hijos para que vean cómo nos distraíamos cuando era pequeña.
Lo que no me gusta
No tengo quejas con respecto a la App, salvo que tiene demasiados comerciales que no se pueden obviar ni siquiera pagando.
Igual mantengo mi esperanza de tener Netflix en algún momento, pero debo agradecer a PlutoTv que me haya salvado la vida en este aspecto, ya que luego de una larga jornada de trabajo, siempre viene bien alguna película que ayude a distraerse un poco.
