Last time, I said there are more than just pedal and brake that helps to stop a car. These mechanisms I'm about to talk about helps the brakes to save our lives. I'm talking about: ABS, EBD & BA.
But I'll talk about them separately
ABS
Anti-locking Brake System prevent your wheels from locking up during hard braking. Let's say you are driving and slow kids are crossing and you had to "slow, kids are crossing" then you slammed hard on the brakes that the wheels locks up but the force pushing the car foward has not stopped (Newton's laws of motion) so the car is still moving, ABS prevents the tyres from locking this maintain traction and control. ABS gives you control so that you can avoid drifting and skidding and also crushing innocent kids.
Forgot to mention, ABS pumps the brake about 15 times per second at speed beyond 8mph
ABS was introduced by Gabriel Voison a French pioneer in the year 1920 to aid aircraft braking system. In 1970 (after 50 years of too much car accidents 😂😂😂😂) ABS was introduced to land vehicles (I mean what took them so long?).

Let me explain
The speed sensors are located on each wheel, they monitor how fast the wheels are rotating and sends the signal to the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) which is the brain of the ABS. ECU uses the data from the speed sensors to determine whether to pump the brakes or not. The pump is filled with hydraulic fluids and apply pressure to the brakes on demand. The valve allows to block and release pressure on brakes.
The speed sensors tell when the wheels are locking. It is connected directly to the ECU which reads the signal from each sensors and sends it to each respective wheel, let's compare that to the human eye: The retina receives this light and sends the "data" to the brain which sends the "information" (I should have used computer instead of eye😒) back to the respective eye through the optic nerves. In the illustration, the retina is the speed sensors, the brain ECU and the eye the brakes.closing and opening each of the eye limits the vision. In the same way, different wheels at different speeds gets different pressure.
