Saturday midday, warm and not so windy early November day. It was an interlude between two rainy spells. We've been in Ptuj for a day and the best thing to do here, at least for me, is to go running by the river Drava.
The plan was to run for half an hour on the right bank then turn and run back the same way. The realization was almost there.
The water level was exceptionally high. Fortunately, this part of the river has very high banks that prevent flooding. The buildings at the foot of the Ptuj castle were still nearly kissed by the water.
The foot bridge was four bricks away from the water level.
The same was with the main bridge.
Do you see the log speeding down the river bed?
Running along the river, there is a trench to the right with swans swimming peacefully in it.
The river forms an artificial lake here because of the power plant a couple of kilometers downstream.
Shadow hunting time :)
More swans grazing on practically flooded fields already prepared for the winter sleep.
I didn't follow my original plan to turn back and return the same way. It would be too boring. Instead I crossed the river on the main bridge and ran back by the left bank, then crossed back on the foot bridge and returned home.
A view back from the main bridge.
It was good eleven kilometers of easy running with taking photos. Nice.
better and better
